Pfeffernuesse
3 T butter or margerine, softened 2 c sugar
4 t ground cinnamon 2 t nutmeg
2 t ground cloves 1/8 t pepper
4 large eggs 3 c all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder 1 c chopped pecans
Beat butter and sugar at medium speed until blended. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and pepper, beating until blended.
Add eggs, flour and baking powder, beating well. Stir in pecans.
Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 for 14 minutes. Remove cookies to wire racks to cool.
Yield: 6.5 dozen cookies.
Note: Dust with/roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
